WAR EAGLE!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thank you all for a tremendous 2008. The club was busy from day one and we have another busy year coming in 2009! For those of you who went to the Cardinals game on May 31, have your shoes dried by now? It was a real “toad choker” rain event but lots of fun. We had fun with many other community events this year and I hope we do more in 2009. The SEC activities were some of the best things we enjoyed.....crawfish boil, picnic, softball game, and football kickoff party. Regretfully Hurricane Ike rained out the golf scramble. And let’s not forget the loud yells at the Watch Parties even though our beloved Tigers sputtered and stumbled and did not have a winning year. We still love them and will yell louder in 2009. The year was great also because we created a new club logo and website http://www.auburnstl.org/ and sponsored a Tiger at the Zoo and an Eagle at the Wild Bird Sanctuary. We also established a club membership fee so that we can do more things and operate better. We purchased promotional items such as stadium cups, tee shirts, and business cards. What a great time we had wearing our tee shirts and raising our cups high and yelling WAR EAGLE! The most outstanding event this year was the Annual Scholarship Dinner and Silent Auction. If you have never attended this dinner, please put it on your calendar for 2009. We had two guest speakers from the Athletic Department and the Alumni Association. We were very fortunate to award a $2000 club scholarship to a Parkway High School senior who is now attending Auburn. This has been an annual event for many years and we are planning on awarding another scholarship in 2009. Our long range goal is to have a $25K St. Louis Auburn Club Scholarship in place with the Alumni Association so that an award can be given each year to a St. Louis high school student. This year was also the St. Louis Auburn Club’s 25th anniversary. Regretfully we failed to celebrate this significant milestone and plan to have a party in 2009. We hope you join us!

Dear St. Louis Auburn Club,
Are you ready for some football? The football season has begun and I know you all are excited about our Auburn team and all the upcoming games this year. The club has an exciting fall planned with watch parties and a trip to Nashville for the game with Vandy.
Much has happened since I last wrote to everyone back in April. Our officers and directors have been busy with not only Auburn club events but with other SEC clubs in the St. Louis area. Hopefully you have been able to attend all of these activities. In May we attended the LSU Crawfish Boil and Cardinals-Pittsburg game. In June we held the SEC picnic at Bierne Park. July was our busiest month with the Scholarship Dinner. August has not found us slacking off and we had the SEC softball tournament and SEC football kickoff party. So I ask again, "Are you ready for some football?"
The scholarship dinner in July was our most significant event because we were able to award a St. Louis high school senior who will be attending Auburn with a $2500 scholarship. This year's recipient was Courtney Phillips from Parkway North High School. Our long-range goal is to have a permanent scholarship and this will require establishing a $25,000 scholarship fund. Currently we have to raise the money annually and the amount varies from year to year. Your help and support in making a permanent scholarship a reality is greatly needed and I hope you will consider participating and that you will let me know how you can help. Please know that Auburn clubs awarded $183,000 to 108 students.
Another way you can help the club is to provide me with feedback and comments regarding the scholarship dinner that was held in July. This year it was held on a Monday night at a Westport restaurant. Our attendance was approximately 45. We netted approximately $1300 with a silent auction, raffle, and donations. Two speakers from Auburn's Athletic Dept. and Alumni Association attended and talked about current happenings at Auburn and future plans. We had a nice enjoyable evening and certainly enjoyed supporting a high school senior who has decided that Auburn is her college of choice.
What I need from you is feedback and comments on how we did with the scholarship dinner this year. Tell me what we did right and what we can do even better and especially how to get more attendance and participation. Let me know why you did not attend. Is the day and time wrong, is the function not fulfilling? Typically Auburn chooses to send a speaker from the Athletic Dept. Would you prefer someone from another area? Please let me hear from you either via the website or nelda.k.lee@boeing.com
If you are reading this on the website, then you know that it is www.auburnstl.org. Please tell others. Please visit the site and check the calendar of events. There are many things planned. We also have a St. Louis Auburn Club logo that is now on Auburn stadium cups and tee shirts and these items are for sale and of course support the scholarship fund.
I encourage you to visit the website, check out the calendar of events, attend a watch party, and support the club with your attendance at all activities. We greatly appreciate you being an Auburn Club member and I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

April 21, 2008 The St. Louis Auburn Club would like to extend a WAR EAGLE to you. I would also like to tell you about the club and some of the activities that we've accomplished and are planned for this year.
There are approximately 130 grads listed with the Auburn Alumni Association as members of the St. Louis Auburn Club. I’m fairly positive that there are more grads in the St. Louis area and our club goal is to reach these other WAR EAGLES and invite them to join us for a club activity.
You will find a 2008 Calendar of Events on our website and although details are not shown for each activity, please know that as dates come closer; our Communications Director will be sending each of us an email with information. So be sure you are on our mailing list (just click on Lee's name on the 'Contact Us' page to send him a request to be added if you are not currently on the our list). As you can see on the calendar, the club has planned several activities with other SEC clubs in the St. Louis area. We have a contact for all SEC clubs with the exception of Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi State, and South Carolina. If you know someone in these clubs or who is a grad, please let our Communications Director know. Thanks. Other activities planned are a picnic in June, several community activities later in the year, and many things are still TBD. In the fall we will “kickoff” our football watch parties and these are a “must” attend. If you know SEC football then you know what I mean when I say “must” attend.
Our most important annual event is the Bill Sullivan Scholarship Dinner. This is when a scholarship is awarded to a St. Louis high school grad that is planning to attend Auburn in the fall. The dinner is held at a local restaurant and representatives from Auburn’s Athletic and Alumni Association are our guest speakers. It is one of the most enjoyable and significant events that the club has each year. If you cannot attend any other activity, I would encourage you to be sure and attend this. It will be held on Monday, July 28 at a restaurant in West Port. More details will be coming soon.
We have just launched our St. Louis Auburn Club website and a new St. Louis Auburn Club logo this month. You can find a listing of your new Directors, learn more about our club and activities and even sign our guestbook and post messages. We will continue to add fresh content so bookmark us and stay connected.
Please join us in 2008. We want to meet you and make our St. Louis Auburn Club the best!
