WAR EAGLE!

Greetings and Happy Spring 2009!

I hope 2009 is off to a good start for you.  The St. Louis Auburn Club has an exciting year ahead and I want to encourage all of you to come out and enjoy the fun and get to know other Auburn grads, family, and friends in the St. Louis area.  The club has planned several activities with other SEC clubs and that should make for exciting SEC fun and bring out the old competitive spirit!  Don’t miss out on getting to know new Auburn folks and the fun that we have planned.

Did you know that there are approximately 650 Auburn grads in the St. Louis area?  Yes……650 of us!  This is great news and I hope we can plan activities this summer so we can meet and talk Auburn!  Recently all 650 Auburn grads should have received an email “blast” from the Auburn Alumni Association inviting everyone to an “All St. Louis Auburn” luncheon-meeting that was held on March 21.  I only mention this because the attendance was less than I had hoped and therefore I think we should try again!  Plus I want you to know about the summer activities and hope you will mark your calendar and attend as many activities as you can.

Upcoming SEC events are:  Trivia Night on April 18, LSU Crawfish Boil on May 23, Golf Scramble on May 31, Picnic on June 6, Softball Game and Football Kickoff both in August date TBD.

Upcoming Auburn Club events are:  “All St. Louis Auburn” Lunch Social” at Pujol’s Westport Grill on May 9 at 11:00, Baseball Cardinals game on May 16 at 12:10, 10th Annual Bill Sullivan Scholarship Dinner at Westport Sheraton Chalet on July 27.  At the scholarship dinner we will also celebrate the Club’s 25th Anniversary and History.   There is more information on the club website.   One thing on the website not to miss is the 2008 Communication Award that the club received at the Club Leadership Conference in February at Auburn.

Please check out all the pages on our St. Louis Auburn Club website for much more information.  In addition to the scholarship that the club awards annually to a local St. Louis high school student, club members also sponsor a Tiger at the St. Louis Zoo and an Eagle at the Wild Bird Sanctuary.  There is also info on how to support all club activities and committees and become a due-paying member.

Please email me as I would like to hear from you.  You can also contact our Communication Director via email.

Please join us for Auburn events on May 9, May 16, and July 27 plus all the SEC events!

Greetings and Happy 2009!

I hope everyone had a most enjoyable Christmas and Holiday break and that your New Year is off to a good start.

I am happy to tell you that your St. Louis Auburn Club officers have had their first business meeting and an exciting year is ahead.  Your new offices for the year are:  Nelda Lee – Pres, Lee Ori – VP, Judy McGowen – Sectretary, and Linda Ragsdale – Treasurer.  Currently your Directors are:  George Humphries, Tommy Gordon, Carolyn Sullivan, Jim McGowen, Charles Smith, Les Prouty, Lance Swearengin, Tony Long, and Wes Christian.  Committees that need members are: Membership, Scholarship Dinner, Fund Raising/Marketing.  If you would like to serve on these committees or would like to volunteer in any way, please send me an email at St. Louis Auburn Club [stlauburnclub.president@gmail.com].  I know we have a committee that needs your help and expertise.  All of our committees will be posted on the web page soon.

I would like to extend a special “thank you and job well done” to our out-going officers, Justin O’Shea – VP and Kimberlee Riley – Secretary.  Both of you did a great job in 2008 and served the club well.  I know both of you will contribute again in 2009 on committees and special projects so I look forward to seeing you often at club events.

A quick look ahead for the year has the 10th Annual Scholarship Dinner planned on July 27 at Sheraton West Port Chalet.  Also planned are several SEC events and Judy McGowen is working on ideas for a picnic, softball game, golf scramble, and football kickoff party.  Also the club is planning on going to a Cardinals baseball game.  Kimberlee Riley will also be working on community events that may be of interest to us.  Check our web page often as this info will be out soon.

I also encourage all of you to become “dues-paying” members of your St. Louis Auburn Club.  These dues are small in comparison to how they help the club operate and build our scholarship support.  I also encourage you to consider contributing and being a sponsor of a Tiger at the Zoo and an Eagle at the Wild Bird Sanctuary.  All of this info is on our web page.

Lastly, the Alumni Club Leadership Conference is planned at Auburn on February 6-7.  I will be attending and am soliciting your inputs on how to make our club serve you better, increase participation and membership, and grow funds for our annual scholarship.  Send me your ideas and wishes.

The 2008 club reports will be on the website soon…….take a look.  Thank you all for a GREAT 2008.
